Capt. Snapp's Panama City Inshore Fishing Report

October has arrived and the fishing in Panama City is on FIRE! Yes, the water is still a little stained in a couple of the bays but has cleared up tremendously from last month in others, allowing for some great sight fishing. Live bait has returned and are thick just about everywhere you look. In the backwaters, top water action for reds and trout is crazy! Fish are being caught just about all day long. Spanish, jacks, and ladyfish are also crushing artificial as well as live bait throughout the bay systems and off the beach. I have also had good reports of pompano and flounder being caught. Sharks are still plentiful throughout the bays and will hit just about anything!

For all you fly guys and gals, don’t forget, this is a great time to flyfish in our area due to the target rich environment! You can literally catch several different species in the same day having a blast on the water.

The cooler weather and sunny days of October make for a fantastic month to be in Panama City to enjoy the fishing and beaches! So come on down and take advantage of some incredible fishing and outdoor fun!
