Slow Fishing

Event Start Date: 2019/09/12

2019/09/12

Remora and birds continue to be a problem with “Flipper” not far away. The water quality continues to be good. Tons of small Hardtails, Goggle eyes and Alewives are present. Larger Hardtails, yellow tail Jacks and Ladyfish are abundant. No Kings and only one Sailfish spotted. A few schools of Tarpon have passed traveling East. Spanish Mackerel are the only catches very early mornings and at sunset. The shallows have a few Red Drum mostly after Sunset.

Gotchas and Bubble rigs are still the “go to” when the Spanish schools have appeared. We did have a decent bite a couple of days. George got these one evening right at dark.

Skinny water was slow. Live Pin fish on a Carolina rig or fresh live Sand Fleas seemed to get what few Red Drum there were to bite.

Species caught: Spanish Mackerel, Red Drum, Ladyfish and Blue Runners. Bait: small Alewives, small Goggle eyes and Hardtails with a few baby Bonita in the mix.
