Daily activity:
Thursday 06th. water temp 85.8 SSW 6-8mph in the a.m. / 88.0 S 8-10mph. The water was silty. There were a few Spanish Mackerel, Ladyfish and Hardtails caught. Wolson W. decked a nice Bonita. One tiny King Mackerel was foul hooked and lost. Live bait was available- Cigar minnows and Spanish Sardine.
Friday: water temp 86.5 E 7-10mph in the a.m. / 88.2 S 8-10mph in the p.m. The water was still silty. There were a few Spanish Mackerel, Pompano and Bluefish in the morning. The afternoon was tough. No Kings, however Squid were here attacking our live bait. This is unusual for this time of year. There were some Black Drum caught in the shallows. Check this one Casey W. caught. Saturday: water temp 86.9 N 5-7mph in the a.m. / 86.7 ESE 7-15mph in the p.m. The water was still a little silty. Squid were back in force eating bait from the King rigs.
Hachid caught one small King Mackerel. There were a few Spanish Mackerel, Ladyfish and Hardtails. Shallow water produced a few Pompano and a Red Drum.
Sunday: water temp 86.9 E 7-9mph in the a.m. / 88.5 S 7-9mph wind in the p.m. The water was green with algae with visibility about 4 feet. There were A few Spanish Mackerel and Ladyfish. A few Pompano were caught in the shallows.
Monday: water temp 87.8 S 8-9mph in the a.m. / 89.1 SW wind 7-10mph in the p.m. The water was green and hot. The day was very slow. There were a couple of Pompano and a Red Drum caught in shallow water. The end was dead all afternoon until 4:20 when I caught a small 5–6-pound King Mackerel. A visiting angler caught a large Spade Fish. I heard of two Spanish Mackerel hooked with a small one landed. There were some Cigar minnows, but you had to snatch them.
Tuesday: water temp 87.4 WSW 5-7mph in the a.m. / 89.8 WSW 10-15mph in the p.m. The water was better but not clear- still green with algae. There were Pompano caught on jigs just outside of the first Tee, on the west side of the pier. Hai and Aiquang caught several each. Hardtails were caught all day from the first Tee to the end. At about 3:45, I finally had a King bite after drifting bait since 10:00a.m. It hit a dead Cigar minnow on the “snobble”. It weighed 12 pounds. There were a few Cigar minnows available for live bait.
Wednesday 12th. water temp 83.3 W 12-15mph in the a.m./ 89.1 W 12-17mph in the p.m. The water was almost clean. There were Hardtails and Ladyfish caught. Only one small King Mackerel hit the deck. Cigar minnows and a few Spanish Sardine were available for live bait
Red Tide status: As of the latest FWC report, Karenia brevis (red tide) was observed at background concentrations in Wakulla County, with no fish kills or respiratory irritation reports in the past week
