Even though the leader board remained static, there were a few respectable King Mackerel caught. Friday, only 2 small Kings were decked but it turned on Sunday. The biggest was 22-pounds 7-ounces, caught Sunday afternoon by Bill from Ohio. There was at least a dozen decked with a couple of anglers getting their limit of three. The next largest fish was 17-pounds 10-ounces caught by Gemel. John had a nice fish, but the Barracuda ate half. Late Sunday afternoon, the bite quit and no more were caught Monday through Wednesday. Here is Bill’s fish and a group picture of some of Sunday afternoon action- left to right Gemel, Bill, Scott, John and Carlos.
Spanish Mackerel were active several days. The sizes ranged from less than legal to nice “axe handles”. Several fish around 4-pounds were in the mix. Lures, Bubble rigs and free-lined live bait were productive. Here is George with one of his bigger fish and a group shot of Johan, Philip and George.
Red Drum were prowling the Alewife schools and were caught from the shallows out to the end tee. Several hit the free-lined bait on the King rigs. Here is one example that Mark caught and released-31 inches.
